Historical Overview
- Inception
- Sociedad Católica San José (SCSJ) is a non-profit Civil Association which was founded August 4th 1878. It is a secular and eminently apolitical organization that has devoted its 137 years of existence to providing care to children, adolescents, their families and the community in a situation of vulnerability.
- Over a Century
- Having existed for more than a century since its creation, the Institution has become an organization that enjoys recognition for its commitment to social work. It primarily focuses on implementing its own model for preventive and comprehensive interventions, through two Integrated Centers and Projects that promote proposals for the benefit of the target population, strengthening their training and their inclusion into society.
- More than 1500 beneficiaries
- Faced with the challenges identified and the commitment taken on, Sociedad Católica San José created the Educational Centers of San José Las Lomas (1989) and Santa María de Alpacoma (2001), which benefit around 1,500 children and adolescents, 750 families and, indirectly, 50,000 families living in SCSJ’s intervention area.
